singing with ghosts

I cannot serenade a ghost

in the dining room of a

mansion with faux fur rugs

and chandeliers.

Furthermore, I cannot

serenade the ghost whose

past life did not align with mine.

I need a specific specter

with whom to sing,

One who knows that I buy

bouquets of flowers for

myself and sniff them

as if they did not come from me.
